Original Track "The Docks" By: Matt FeltenSound is all around us, and it is beautiful.
As we walk through life, our footsteps create sonic feedback full of information. How fast we are going, what shoes we are wearing, the character of our gait, the density and texture of the ground under our feet. Even sitting perfectly still in an anechoic chamber with held breath, the beating of your heart and gurgling of your stomach informs you of your aliveness.
Within a single pin drop lies a world of complexity, layers upon layers of subtleties which coalesce perfectly into a moment of sonic singularity. We can crystalize this energy with a membrane suspended in space; through our eardrums recorded to the synaptic hard drive - or through a microphone recorded to a computer hard drive - where that sound byte can be replayed and recognized by a person thousands of miles away from where the inital sonic event took place.
Sound reflects our environment, but it also reflects us. A crying baby may elicit warmth and compassion from one person and anxiety and annoyance from another. The same song may bring happy memories and emotions or unearth pain and sadness depending on the listener and their history.
Within every sound lies a wealth of data and a fascinating connection to the human experience, waiting to be explored and enjoyed.
